My kitchen circa 1970's! This was in the year 2004 when I first moved in. I was pregnant and desperately wanted hard wood floors! These floors had carpet on top, then tile underneath, then beautiful wide-plank hardwood! It was a long process to uncover those babies...

Here is my kitchen as it looks today. There are still some finishing touches that are needed. Just look at what painting the cupboards, changing out the drawer pulls and knobs, and tiling a back splash can do! Not to mention the beautiful floors I uncovered! It took lots of patience but my husband and I conquered and we were on a tight budget. We spent approximately $500 and made ourselves a brand new kitchen, but that does not include the cost of appliances as we changed those out as needed and not all at once. Next will be changing out the light fixtures and finishing the ceiling. The ceiling will be a challenge as it is covered in high gloss paint...I have tried many things but paint just keeps peeling. I have decided to go with white bead board to cover the ceiling...now I just need to find some! Wish me luck.
